Quality Stove

I recently purchased the Saltfore ST1 Vison 5kw stove and it looks great and works really well, throws out a good amount of heat. The Stove Fitters warehouse were outstanding, well priced and very fast delivery.

Saltfire ST1 Vision

This is a really nice stove and the first we have purchased in about 15 years. We had a cast iron Dovre 250 and the Saltfire is steel and thus much lighter. Installation is easy to an existing flue - just slots in and then you add fire cement or resin. No need for a collar. Stovefitter's Warehouse were very helpful with this purchase when I contacted them to ask about sweeping through - the online manuals from Saltfire said that you could not, but you can (which is a relief as we did not want to put a hatch in the flue). The fire performs very well, the ash almost burns to nothing. We have not needed to empty it of ash since we had it. Lights easily and gets nice and hot. A stove thermometer puts it in the correct operating range. The glass stays reasonably clean and you get a lovely view of the flames. My only negative is that the door handle is awkward to close - we turn it the wrong way frequently, but maybe that is because the Dovre was very easy. For the cost of this, you cannot go wrong and its Defra approved.

Saltfire S1 Vision decent little stove

Following the manufacturers instructions to build small fires initially is a must. I found the Saltfire took a good few burns to get up to a decent temperature, but once it had ‘bedded in’ it works well. It does seem to require very dry wood to give a decent heat output, the glass is large and it’s lovely to watch when it’s going, perfect cave man telly. Cracking the door open to get it going works well, wood burns for a decent amount of time. A decent stove for the price.

Looks great and Heats Well

Really pleased with this stove especially with how it looks. The glass cleans well and is easy to maintain. Once hot it maintains a good temperature. The only thing that could perhaps be improved is getting the ash out and cleaning inside.
