Holyhead to Ffestiniog, Bangor to Betws Y Coed, Llandudno to Rhyl, Colwyn Bay to Abergele, Llanwrst and beyond…
Apparently, there is a lot of wood burned in North Wales and solid fuel is a popular choice amongst householders. This probably has something to do with large areas of the area, particularly in The Snowdonia National Park, not having mains gas (bottled gas and oil is an expensive and inefficient method of heating a home). Parts of North Wales, away from the Welsh coast, have plenty of forest and that’s always useful for stove owners.
Before we look at the local stove outlets here’s a top tip…
Top Tip: When buying a log burner or chimney liner from a retail stove outlet you want to ensure that there is a registered installer willing to install your new equipment. Many Hetas-registered engineers will only fit the stoves and materials that they themselves have supplied, leaving just a few freelance stove fitters to fit all of the stoves purchased from large retail outlets (either online or bricks and mortar). Too often a customer hands over his money to one of these large showrooms only to find out that there are no fitters available. This is a very common situation between the end of August and end of April with the pre-Christmas period being the busiest – freelance installers often fully booked for months and charging vast sums because of this. If a shop has it’s own stove installer then you should find that you, as a customer who is prepared to purchase a stove, are a priority.
