Great quality stove

Really delighted with the Charnwood C6 stove (we fitted a Charnwood at our last house - a Cove- & it was great). Went for the gunmetal finish this time (with a log store) and so pleased that we did as it looks really good- and is made to the same high standard. .Its a really nice balance - simple but traditional too- transformed the lounge.

Charnwood C6 with Multifuel kit

Ordered from SFW and received within a week as promised. Stove it fantastic, well built and looks smart. Installation was easy using two 30 degree elbows also supplied by SFW. Overall, recommended, particularly for those with a relatively small fireplace aperture.

  • Cleanburn Airwash Technology
  • Quattroflow Air Management System
  • Cool-to-touch for safe and easy reloading
  • Drop down throat plate enabling the chimney to be swept through the stove
  • Meets the UK building requirements for installation with a 12mm non-combustible hearth
  • Sliding firebed for clean and easy ash removal

Standard leg (colour "gunmetal" shown)

Store stand (colour "black" shown)

Not one for following the crowd and choosing a black stove? Charnwood offer a variety of other colours. Please contact us for a quote and delivery estimate.

Note that coloured stoves are made to order and can take a few weeks (longer in peak season).

Charnwood offers a useful rear adaptor for this stove allowing the flue to be connected further back on the stove. The flue can still be swept thorough the stove with this adaptor.

A rear heat shield is another useful option. Distance to combustibles at the rear of the stove is usually 350mm but is reduced to 100mm with the shield.

See "Customers Also Bought".

Specifications

Output & Fuel

Wood-only (can only burn wood)
Nominal 4.9kW. Max. 7kW

This stove will run happily at 5kW - 7kW depending on fuel load. Note that running the stove at a higher fuel level than that specified in the manufacturer's manual may cause degradation of stove innards (firebricks, baffle etc.) although these are replaceable (and repairable with beige fire cement).

What size stove do I need?

Eco Credentials

This stove meets and exceeds the new 2022 Ecodesign regulations

This stove is approved by DEFRA to burn wood in a Smoke Control Area

Efficiency

82% (as a rough guide 82% of heat goes to the room with 18% going up the chimney).

Don't overthink efficiency. 75%-85% is fine and90%+ efficiency may not work so well on shorter or difficult chimneys.

External Air

Yes, this stove can be fitted with an external air kit (draws air from outside via pipe direct to stove). Usually this option is not relevant unless a room air-vent is required and the property is airtight (by design or choice).

See "Customers Also Bought".

Body & Door

Steel stove (10-year body guarantee) with cast-iron door

What to buy steel or cast-iron? Do not overthink. Steel heats fast. Cast-iron takes a little longer but retains heat longer as fire dies.

Hearth

Hearth thickness: minimum 12mm non-combustible material (can include floor thickness).

Air Gaps

Distance to combustibles SIDE: 600mm
Distance to combustibles REAR: 700mm

To non-combustibles there are no hard rules but, around the stove, a 50mm minimum air gap is recommended to brick/stone. This to be increased to 100mm for rendered or boarded surfaces. Prior to purchasing any stove download the installation manual to check that manufacturers do not have any additional requirements.
