Stove & Twin Wall Chimney Design & Purchase

I initially contacted Stovefitter's Warehouse to use their free twin wall chimney design service with a view to then purchasing the chimney components and stove from them to install myself. I inundated them with emails asking for advice and I have to say they were superb! Quick responses, attentive, clear and informative at all times! Their knowledge and customer service is second to none. I am now in the middle of my installation and I'm slowly and confidently getting there with their support. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending their website and service. Brilliant :-)

Great price, great help and advice

Having researched many log burner companies and log burners, I came across Stovefitters Warehouse, I found the stove we actually wanted and at a great price, after reading their “ABOUT” blog I felt very reassured about this company, I rang and spoke to a lovely guy called Arran who helped me tremendously, I went ahead and purchased everything I needed, with quick delivery, one of the items was out of stock but Arran kept me updated and to his word I received the item on cue, great after sales support. Thank You

Description

About the Hamlet Solution 5 Widescreen Stove

Hamlet solution 5 widescreen in a fireplace

NEW for 2020 (Eco Design version).

This is a wider version of the classic Solution 5 manufactured by Arada, in the UK (Devon), under the brand name Hamlet.

The Solution 5 has a nominal output range of 5kW and a 79.3% efficiency rating. This British made stove is an absolute steal at this price and a great option if you are on a tight budget and looking for a stout stove from a British manufacturer.

The stove is multifuel as standard and is perfectly happy burning wood on its own or smokeless fuel.

A rear heatshield is available (see "Customer's Also Bought" on this page) allowing the stove to be placed closer to combustible materials.

An excellent ten-year guarantee on the stove body provides reassurance.

Other models in the range include the Solution 5 Compact and Solution 5 Widescreen.

Specifications

Output & Fuel

Multifuel (can burn wood and smokeless fuel)
Nominal 5kW. Max. 6.29kW

This stove will run happily at 5-6.29kW depending on fuel load. Note that running the stove at a higher fuel level than that specified in the manufacturer's manual may cause degradation of stove innards (firebricks, baffle etc.) although these are replaceable (and repairable with beige fire cement).

This stove can burn wood and smokeless fuel/coal without any modification.

What size stove do I need?

Eco Credentials

This stove meets and exceeds the new 2022 Ecodesign regulations

This stove is approved by DEFRA to burn wood in a Smoke Control Area

Efficiency

82.5% (as a rough guide 82.5% of heat goes to the room with 17.5% going up the chimney).

Don't overthink efficiency. 75%-85% is fine and 90%+ efficiency may not work so well on shorter or difficult chimneys.

External Air

Yes, this stove can be fitted with an external air kit (draws air from outside via pipe direct to stove). Usually this option is not relevant unless a room air-vent is required and the property is airtight (by design or choice).

Air vent advice here

Body & Door

Steel stove (10-year body guarantee) with cast-iron door

What to buy steel or cast-iron? Do not overthink. Steel heats fast. Cast-iron takes a little longer but retains heat longer as fire dies.

Hearth

This stove can, if sited outside of a fireplace recess, be sited on a 12mm thick hearth.

If in a fireplace recess, a full 125mm thickness constructional hearth is required. This will usually be in place as part of the recess design.

Flue

5" (125mm) collar top or rear (can be installed with a 5" or 6" chimney liner)

Air Gaps

Distance to combustibles SIDE: 550mm
Distance to combustibles REAR: 900mm (450mm with optional rear heat shield; 350mm if twin wall all the way to stove and heat shield).

You can find the optional heat shield in "Customer's Also Bought" on this product page.

Tech document sheet

To non-combustibles there are no hard rules but, around the stove, a 50mm minimum air gap is recommended to brick/stone. This to be increased to 100mm for rendered or boarded surfaces. Prior to purchasing any stove download the installation manual to check that manufacturers do not have any additional requirements.

Delivery Promise

We offer 14 days from delivery to report any courier damage to your stove. If a stove is damaged by the courier we will replace or refund as desired.

Guarantee

Manufacturer's Guarantee

The manufacturer offers a 10 year body guarantee

Glass

Why do we sell glass insurance (pre-ticked box close to ADD TO CART button)? Because glass is classed, in the stoves industry, as a consumable item and not covered under ANY guarantee by any manufacture for any reason whatsoever. If it breaks or cracks on day one or day twenty it is not covered. If the inside of the glass goes cloudy or gets any kind of surface coating or etching then it is not covered (it will be to do with what you are burning according to manufacturers and glass makers). Glass usually costs £30-£60 plus postage but can be more on higher end models.

Performance

Defra-approved or/and Ecodesign stoves are designed and thoroughly tested before being allowed onto the market and every stove sold is identical. In the rare event a stove does not perform as well as expected it is always down to the installation, the chimney or circumstances unique to the property (pressure imbalances caused by local conditions, down drafts etc.). Here at Stovefitter's we have taken stoves back on a number of occasions for testing on our chimney and in every situation the stoves performed as expected (we may of course find a faulty stove one day but never as yet). We may, at our discretion, take a stove back once it has been used and in this situation a 50% refund would be provided (stove would be sold as second hand). We would, however, offer a 33% refund on a replacement stove.

£ PRICE MATCH £

We will happily strive to match any price you may have from any other supplier as long as the other supplier has it in stock.
Offered an "ex-display" or "shop soiled"? We will strive to offer you a new stove for the same price.

Already have a chimney? You need 1. Stove 2. Liner 3. Fitting Pack 4. Chimney closure plate (Hardiebacker board from Builder's merchants or galvanised sheet). That's it!
No chimney? Check out our shed kits or let us design your clip-together chimney design - easy peasy.
