Distance from bottom of pipe to top of soot door is 25cm (on all pipes offered in drop-down list) and so anything above this can be cut.
As with all vitreous pipe the bottom end narrows to a lesser diameter to enable insertion into other pieces of pipe (male is always on top). Key reason is that any condensation that trickles down inside pipe cannot escape. Straight lengths can be cut using a grinder and 115mm cutting disc (available from this online store).

Good quality pipe. complete with soot door. Very well packaged and arrived promptly. Look forward to fitting in our new home. Will recommend.
Good quality - good tight fit into stove collar, the 15 degree elbow fitted snugly too. The soot door is the right height for my arrangement. The only issue I have is may have cut it too short to comply with 600 mm straight flue off stove top - although it does go into the 15 degree elbow. I get the building in control in to check before i cement it all together. There maybe a repeat order coming soon . Many thanks stuart bunce firstname.lastname@example.org
